Croatia - the land of 1000 islands among which the largest is the island of Krk.
The island of Krk is set in the middle of Kvarner bay which is one of the most well known and favorite destination of many tourists. Its advantageous geografical position, cultural beauties, pleasant and mild Mediterranean climate brought it the nickname "The Golden Island".
Seven
There are seven centres on the island of Krk one of which is Malinska, where our apartements are situated. Number seven is tied to the island in a very unusual, tied-by-destiny way. It all began in the 7th century when Croats started to populate the island, 7th duke from the Frankopan family line successfully defended the island from pirates seven times and was the last duke on the island of Krk. By coming to our apartements you will also get a chance to visit all seven of centres on the island.
Transportation connections
The island of Krk is connected to land by a bridge which is set 17 kilometers from our apartements. There is an airport on the island 15 kilometers from the suites. By sea you can arrive using a ferry and come to port Valbiska which is set 17 kilometers from the suites.
All roads lead to the island of Krk and your arrival to our apartements will be a truly simple experience.
Adjacent islands
The island of Krk is surrounded by numerous islands: the island of Cres, to which are linked Veli Lošinj, Goli otok, and the island of Rab. It is surrounded by few uninhabitated islands such as the isle of Školjićwhich has mere 400 meters long coast. The largest one is the island named Plavnik with coastline stretching across 17 kilometers which also servers as a source of natural spring water and many medicinal plantlife. Plavnik also serves as a feeding ground for sheep. If you decide to spend your summer vacation in Markas apartements, you will be able to visit all the surrounding islands with ease by using one of the excursion boats or by car from the ferry piers Valbiska.
Description of the island of Krk
All 190 kilometers of coast is stony and very low which makes it excellent for swimming and marine activities wherever you are situated. Lenght of the island is 38 kilometers and its width is 20 kilometers. Malinska, where our apartements are placed, is in the centre of the island which opens the ability to move in all directions and to come to your destination with ease. The island can boast with its 300 kilometers of walkpaths which are ideal for sport and recreation. The island of Krk is decorated with dense forests, fertile fields, mountain landscapes, canyons and barren rock. The highest mountain top is Obzova (570 m). Tourists who manage to climb it experience the unforgetable view. In the vicinity of the Markas apartements there are two more lakes and Biserujka cave.
